About the Village of Airmont

Airmont is a small village within the Town of Ramapo. The Justice Court is responsible for handling all court matters, including parking violations, civil and criminal cases, and small claims. Anthony Benedict, Village Justice. Airmont voted to become a village in 1989. Airmont's first mayor was Maureen Kendrick, who was elected in 1991, and she was followed by Ralph Bracco, Ray Kane and John Layne. The Village of Airmont occupies about a five-square-mile area in Rockland County, Town of Ramapo. It is situated in the Ramapo Mountains. It it is blessed with good air and a lot of greenery. Airmont has very restrictive building codes and there has been a virtual ban on contruction, so a lot of impatient people are getting cited for "little" things like remodeling their bathroom or kitchen or for working without a license.
